It just seems like yesterday I was holding some of you and feeding you bottles and handfuls of puffed cereal and now some of you have kids of your own. (God do I feel old!)

but there are a couple of things I wanted to say before I forgot.

First, I love you all very much. More than you will ever, ever know in this lifetime or any other. While I haven’t necessarily been there physically for some of you, I do want you to know that not a day goes by that I haven’t thought of you, worried about you, cussed your parents out about something they said or did to you, or looked at your pictures. Being an aunt is hard. while I don’t get the ‘in your face’ child rearing opportunities, I still worry and struggle with you guys having any and everything you need in your life to make it great. I struggle wanted to choke my siblings (your parents) when they do things that I think aren’t necessarily going to turn out productive. I know that sometimes it can seem like you are all alone sometimes or that no one understands you but trust me, I am here for you. I am always at a minimum a phone call away. (or plane ride because I love to travel)

I don’t want to be your savior, I just want to be your aunt. I want you to know I love you, that I am always here for you, even if you do something that makes me what to choke the shit out of you. But I do need to say this upfront. I don’t put money on accounts. I do not do jail visit. I didn’t like going into arraignment court for my job and I’m not about to start now. So, Please do not put me on your list of visitors. I will however ask your parents about you and again, worry about you but I can’t get behind foolishness. Now if you are completely innocent (and I mean you have an alibi) then that’s a different story. but if you are hanging with the wrong people and get caught up. that’s the consequences of that lifestyle and I cannot sign on for that. I know, its very judgemental. But I deal with the consequences of bad behavior in my professional career and it never ends well. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that your boy doesn’t have a license, smells like weed and liquor and decides he wants to drive to the club, that that situation is headed downhill as soon as he gets behind the driver’s seat. It doesn’t take an advanced degree to understand that selling drugs out of an abandoned house is not a legal occupation (in most states) and neither is identity theft, forgery or reselling stolen phone. If you need to talk if you are in a questionable situation, that’s a great reason to call me. otherwise, I really hope you are not engaged in that type of behavior and/or situations in the FIRST place.

There is a whole wide world out there. Go find your dreams. Go find adventure, travel, meet people from other places and cultures! have fun (don’t make me a great aunt too quickly however) but remember that life is a wonderful thing. enjoy it. revel in it. make peace with it and find strength in the love I have for you always.

never forget that I love you all always.

I am a writer and educator. My passion is making things better than they were before I got there. I want a world where frank conversations about sex and sexuality are not minimized, avoided or just outright banned. I want have a world where women and men are treated equally. A world where no girl under age of 18 has a child unless SHE is fully capable of having one (mentally, emotionally, financially and physically). I want a world where boys under the age of 18 understand that using devaluing girls and young women for their own sexual pleasure not only degrades the person they are with but also themselves. I want a world where people stop having "Oops babies". I want a world where a women isn't disemboweled because she called out her ex's name during sex. I want a world where a woman doesn't lie about physical abuse as punishment in child custody cases. I want a world where a transwoman can walk in public with her partner and he's not ridiculed by his family, friends or society at large. I want a world where a man is viewed as being just as capable as raising a child as any woman. I want young people to learn how to make healthy life-affirming decisions regarding love, sex and romantic relationships for a lifetime, not just one time. I want a world where women and men don't come to the table in a relationship with their sex organs and think its the only thing of value they have to offer. I want a world where people view each other as individuals, not as potential victims. I want a world where healthy relationships are the rule, not the exception. I want a world where being kinky is perfectly okay. I want a world where you can go to your grandmother on advice for buying a new sex toy. Oh and I want to have a good time wherever I go!
